Jan. 29. Super fussy baby crossing the bridge

Maya was very fussy all day.  We got used to hearing her crying.  Now we do what we plan to do while dealing with her crying.

We went to Ikea in the East Bay and stopped at Treasure Island to see the view on the way back.

今日はぐずぐずのマヤちゃんでしたが、構わずお出かけすることにしました。
イーストベイのIKEAに行って、帰りにトレジャーアイランドへ夜景を見に寄りました。

After she ate her dinner, she played with her favorite friends.  As usual she talkes to the cow and after 5 minutes of talking, she gets upset that he does not respond to her. 

家に帰ってから最近お気に入りの牛さんとおしゃべり。いつもと同様５分ほどご機嫌にしゃべりまくった後、返事をしてくれない牛さんにがっかり、泣き出すパターン。

Jan. 19. Mayechka-Zaichka

We went to the Botanical Garden in Golden Gate Park to see magnolias blooming.

We saw lots of them with the moon.

木蓮が咲いているという事で、ゴールデンゲートパークの植物園へ出かけました。

月も出ていてマヤちゃんがウサギさんになってしまいました。

Oba-chan gathered all the ducks in the pond.  She speaks Duck.
おばあちゃんは鴨の使いのように、たくさん鴨を寄せ付けていました。

The big bright half moon sank behind the Twinpeaks that night.
その夜には家から大きな半月がツインピークスへ沈むのが見えました。

Jan. 18. Oji-chan went home....

After his ten days of stay, Oji-chan finally had to leave to go back to work in Sapporo.

１０日間の滞在後、いよいよおじいちゃんが帰国しなければいけない日がやってきました。

All of us cried at the security gate
to say bye to Oji-chan.
おじいちゃんのお見送り。
みんなで泣いてしまいました。

その後はさっぱりしたもんで、
おじいちゃんの乗る飛行機も寝ながらスルー。

She misses Oji-chan already....
でも夜になりうなだれるマヤちゃんでした。

  She took Japanese bath again to honor Oji-chan.

おじいちゃんを思い、日本式のお風呂で涙を流しました。

Full night report

For those who wonder how things went after the last post..... It went well. Very well.

We tried bathing Maya Japanese style yesterday. After 5:30 pm feeding and half an hour rest, she had nice and relaxing time in a warm bath.  I swaddled her and Oba-chan put her to sleep with pacifier.  She was on a swing while we had Sukiyaki dinner (my Dad's speciality) and spent a good couple of hours in front of our laptops.  At midnight, Toli went to bed saying "Good luck."  I got ready to go to bed and mentally ready to wake her up.  I expected her to bite me.... literally "bite me" after the whole 6 hours interval of feeding.

12:30 am, I tried to wake her up by taking pacifier away, unswaddling and changing diaper.  She stretches whole body as usual and still sleeping.  She ate (without hurting me) and finally woke up with a smile.  After the usual IN & OUT routine, she went back to sleep at 1:30.
And she went back to her normal schedule of every 3 hours eating.
..........What was this?  Isn't this great?  At least I loved it!
I enjoyed the big chunk of time I got.

Maya went back to sleep after the morning feeding time at 7:30 am.

Oji-chan & Oba-chan

Japanese set of grandparents, Oji-chan & Oba-chan have been here for a week now.

Maya is their 5th grandchild.  After their own three daughters, two granddaughters and two grandsons, they still seem to be enjoying burping, changing diapers and putting her into sleep.

  

Now she makes good eye contact....even with my dad's tiny eyes.
おじいちゃんのちっちゃい目ともアイコンタクトが取れます。

天気が良いので観光に出かけました。

Jan. 7. Maya's first friends

Maya made some friends.

空くんと遊んでもらいました。
