One month ago, at this spot in our neighborhood park, a mom got ran over by Park & Rec maintenance vehicle in front of her 11 months old daughter and her dog while she was sunbathing on the lawn. Nobody knows what was wrong with this city employee who was driving this vehicle. He was driving on paved area in the park, felt it's too crowded, decided to drove off-road where lots of moms, babies, kids and dogs were hanging out and just drove off.
He ran over a person and just drove off.
He was caught soon after but that's not the point.
The mom was killed in front of her baby,
leaving her husband and 11 mo baby behind.
This could be me.
She was not from this neighborhood, but it didn't matter.
Lots of moms who felt the same way as me got together and had a ceremony for Christy's life.
Not for her death but for her life.
A lot of us including me didn't know her when she was alive. We met her through her death.
It was sad but we wanted to be there to celebrate her life which we didn't know about.
There were her husband, some music, some TV crews and lots of flowers.
I just felt really really grateful for everything I have.
As much as I can't think of losing any of it, she wasn't ready for this either.
This can never happen.
I really hope her husband and the baby, Isa go through this supporting each others and have great lives with good memory with Christy and I hope she is in a peaceful place where she can see her baby grows.
